  1. Introduction: Dirty Dan the Homeless Man sits on the corner of a busy street. It's 10:00 AM and already 95 degrees.

Conflict: Dan is excessively warm and uncomfortable, and wishes to cool off. However, any building he goes into, he gets kicked out because he's so dirty.

Rising Action: Dirty Dan sweats all the sweat his body can produce and he is now dehydrated, feeling as if he is drying out like a sponge in the sun. He begs passers by for spare change, but most of them are not sympathetic of his needs.

Climax: He asks a particular man for coin and the man spits into his tin cup. It's so hot that the spit sizzles as it hits the bottom of the cup. A young boy sees this act of pure meanness and feels bad for Dirty Dan.

Falling Action: The boy walks over to Dirty Dan and removes his wallet from his back pocket. He pulls out 10 Dollars, and gives it to Dan. He explains that it should be enough to get two drinks and a shower at the local truck stop.

Resolution: Dirty Dan is no longer dirty, and is now Dan the Cleanly Man, and is also no longer hot or thirsty, thanks to the Boy's sympathetic kindness.

  2. The man has his winter clothes stashed away behind a dumpster and he is wearing raggedy, frayed, dirty jean shorts with holes in them and a ripped, disgustingly dirty t-shirt. He walks around the streets like he does most mornings begging for some breakfast and a cup of coffee, ignoring his peer's awful remarks and stares. As the day goes on, it gets hotter and hotter. Beads of sweat begin to form on his brow and he tries to find some shade to cool off for a little while, but nothing works. He walks into an air conditioned store trying to get some relief. The manager of the gas station believes he is going to try to steal something so he tells him to leave. But he is just so hot he is willing to do anything to stay in the air conditioning just a little longer. He pulls out all of the money he has to his name that he has been saving for when he needs it most. He shows that he is going to buy something so the manager lets him stay. However, a woman sees his retchet clothing and the glistening sweat all over his body and offers to allow him to come to her house to shower and cool off. She gives him a new set of clothes that her husband no longer wears, some towels to take a shower, and a large glass of water. She then takes him to a shelter where he receives help. They allow him to stay there temporarily, as well as helping him find a job. He works hard every day vowing to never allow himself to get to that state again.

  3. A homeless man walks the streets of Chicago on one of the hottest days in July in hope that he will find leftover food somewhere since he is starving. No one so far has left him any and no one has offered him any. He is determined to get find food somewhere. However, the heat is overbearing. He becomes fatigued and constantly slows his pace, not helping his situation. He starts to look for a place to go where he could cool off. He was drenched with sweat. His mind was no longer on food, but now on the extreme heat he was experiencing. There are so far no places he could go. It is now 1:00 in the afternoon and he knows the heat will only get worse from here. He drags himself down the street, not knowing what to do next. It is only a matter of time before he passes out from the dreadful circumstances.

  4. Ok. This homeless man isn't just any homeless man. He's an intensely religious man and former priest who's been down on his luck. He's out of home and recently out of a job when the church went under. He has no more money and being a man of the church, no living family left. When he first lost his house it was spring and it didn't matter as much. But now it's getting hotter and hotter. He now lives downtown, where the scraps of food are more abundant and he has other homeless to keep him company. The other homeless mocked his faith, saying they've been abandoned by all - especially the divine. The Man had tried to keep his faith at first, but it was waning. He was struggling for food and often struggled with food poisoning. He hadn't showered in months. First he began to despise his religion, and then he began to abandon it. As the Man sat against a brick wall, hands outstretched, he began once again to ponder his faith. He was sweating, badly, and in he began to imagine himself in a figurative hell. The heat and the hate and the disdain. He looked up, cursing whatever existed. The intense heat and the asphalt seemed to be cooking him alive. He was becoming delirious in the heat and passerby hurried past, eager to reach the air-conditioned heaven of their houses or workplaces. As the Man looked down in despair, the miraculous happened. A freak rain, one of summer's fickle downpours. The Man took it as a sign, and figured that everything might just be ok in the end.

  6. A homeless man is walking through the busy streets of Florida. He is thirsty and the day is only getting hotter. He starts to hallucinate and gets really dizzy. People are staring, but yet not doing anything about the situation. He gets really nervous and tries to walk away from them. As he was walking across the street, he didn't realize how slow he was walking and a car is coming his way. The car is honking and it almost hits the man, but immediately slams on the breaks. The homeless man falls over and passes out. The woman gets out of his car and realizes who it is. It is one of her old friends from high school. She rushes him the hospital and he is saved just in time. When the man wakes they talk about what happened earlier that day. He explains to her that he has no one and that he lost his job. She thinks about letting him stay with her for the time being. She eventually makes the decision to let him stay. From there, she helps him get back on his feet and on the right track.

  7. Jeff has been without a house for awhile. Well, I guess that's not entirely true. A box, in his eyes, are fit for him. The only problem with his house, on the busy Michigan Street, is the lack of air conditioning. With everyday bringing nothing but heat, this poses a daily problem. He's tried everything in the past. He's shaved his tangled beard. He's cut the sleeves off of his tattered, grey jacket. He even used his last water bottle to dump on his long and mangled brown hair. Still he cannot free himself from the heat. Today happened to be the worst of the week with temperatures peaking at a staggering 98 degrees. Midday has just passed and Jeff is out of water and his house doesn't provide enough shade. Jeff, in desperate need, falls to his knees and yells, "Lord save me!" Bystanders turn and see the kneeling man covered in sweat with his hand raised. Suddenly, the man collapses. A local pedestrian watches Jeff fall from one knee to full body laying on the ground. The pedestrian calls 911 and Jeff is put on a stretcher with and an IV pierces his forearm. Little did Jeff know that those three words were his last. Nobody showed for his funeral. Nobody went to his memorial ceremony. Jeff lived alone and died alone.

  8. There is a homeless man, Jimmy, in New York City. He is walking around the streets of downtown Manhattan and cannot seem to find a place to cool off. The sun keeps beating down on him. He tries walking around and just sitting in shaded areas, but nothing seems to work. He is determined to find a place to relax and cool off. He just cannot seem to find that place. It slowly reaches noon, and Jimmy is slowly overheating. By the time it reaches two, he cannot handle the heat and passes out. A man, Mark, comes across Jimmy and begins to wonder if he is just sleeping or unconscious. He taps Jimmy a little bit, and when he does not move, Mark decides to get some help. Finally, he brings Jimmy back to consciousness. He could tell Jimmy was overheated and feels sorry for him. Mark knows it may be risky, but he invites Jimmy to come stay with him for a while since the next few days are just supposed to get hotter and hotter. Jimmy is hesitant to say yes, but accepts the invitation. When Mark brings Jimmy home, his wife goes crazy. She does not want a homeless man in her house. She talks to Mark saying that he must get rid of Jimmy. Mark tries to explain the condition Jimmy was in when he found him, but his wife will not listen. She wants him out of the house. Mark is then forced with the decision to keep his wife happy or do what he believes is the right thing to do.

  9. This homeless man shouldn't be homeless. He has a college degree, good character, and great social skills. He's down on himself because the bad economy made him lose his job and he couldn't find another. As he's walking along a New York City street he notices how hot the sun is. Since the day keeps getting hotter and hotter, the homeless man decides to go inside a sandwich shop on the street to get some cool air. While inside, a waiter comes up to take his order. The homeless man just orders a water (because he can't pay for anything else) and continues to sit and take advantage of the cool air in the sandwich shop. Then, a well dressed man comes up and starts to make conversation with him. They talk for hours and hours, and at the end of the conversation the well dressed man buys the homeless man a sandwich and gives him his business card. He tells the homeless man to stop by his office later today to talk about a job.

  10. There was a homeless man who lived in Chicago, on a busy street. He was about fifty to sixty years old. In his past, he was a very renound lawyer. He was well respected, powerful, and rich. Now he resided on the very stepps of the courthouse that he was once a "god" of. It was summer time in Chicago. The days long and full of life. But, this was the year of the heat wave. And today was the hottes day in Chicago history. The homeless man was already weak from lack of food and water. He sat there on the courthouse steps sewating, and dying. He was in need of water and shade. Suddenly, his old law partner came to him and took him in and gave him water. The people in the courthouse cringed at the sight of the man. His partner said "Do you not recognize this man!?" One by one the people did and helped him. The man was saved and given his lawyer position back.

  11. There was once a homeless man. He was dirty and old. No one liked him. As they walked past, he begged for spare change. Day in and day out. He lived in a series of giant cardboard boxes under the overpass that a youngster would find amazing. It traveled along the entire section of road and looked like something out of a national geographic magazine. It was more of a hut with different rooms and even doors made out of cardboard. The place is Los Angeles California where the temperature is extremely hot. There are holes in his makeshift hut so that air can go through and produce some artificial air conditioning. often times the man walks down the road to the intersection and begs for change or food or even work. On some days, he walks down there in a speedo due to the warm climate. What know one knows is that this man is actually very rich. His parents died in a horrible house fire and left him close to $250,000. He puts the money in savings. Choosing to save it forever and never spend a dime of it. The money is the last shred of his parents that he knows. He grasps onto this savings with utter passion because there is not other way that he even remembers them. Then one day, the temerature reaches such a degree that a passing car throws out a cigerrette and lights the man's sign on fire. The man drop it and runs away. He walks for days to the bank to withdraw the $0.35 to buy more cardboard and the lights in the bank spark and catch the bank on fire killing everyone inside. The homeless man runs out and, as the only survivor, is put on trial for the alleged bank fire and when he is released 5 years later, he returns to his underpass cardboard apartment and lives in peace for the rest of his homeless life.

  12. There was a man and he was homeless. Every day he sat out on the busy street and watched everyone else's life go by. Most days were manageable with the average weather and kind people that lived in the town. However, this day it was smoldering outside. Utterly awful and unmanageable was the day. No one wanted to journey outside of their cool, air-conditioned homes. Unfortunately, the homeless man had no home to call his. He had to suffer through the humid-filled, sticky day just like the other 364. There he was, laying on the hot asphault dehydrated and close to unconsciousness when he heard a bell far off in the distance. What could that be, he thought. Maybe it's the angels coming to take me home up to the heavens! It was not the angels but something almost as great... It was thee ICE CREAM MAN! Here comes the ice cream man with all his cold, chocolately goodness hidden inside his vehicle. The homeless man thinks about how nice it would be to slurp down a dreamsicle or maybe even a power puff girl popsicle. But as a poor homeless man he knew he couldn't afford such a luxury. However, as mentioned before, this homeless man was homeless in a kind neighborhood with caring people. So as the ice cream man rolled down the street he saw the homeless man and stopped right in front of the almost passed out man. It was Harry the homelessman's lucky day because on that hot day he got all the ice cream he could consume!

  13. The homeless man is sitting on the sidewalk of a busy street on a summer day. People keep walking past him and ignoring him, refusing to put money into his empty coffee cup and bumping into him as they walk by. The sun is beating down on him and all he wants is a little air conditioning or shade. None of the stores around like him in there since he is a distraction to the customers. Finally one man comes up and gives him a 50 dollar bill, tells him to go get a cab and ride around in the air conditioned car for as long as he can as well as go to the homeless shelter on the other side of town. The man never realizes it, but that day for the homeless was a change in his luck and life.

  14. The day is getting hot, so the homeless man goes into a restaurant to cool down for a while. He can't buy anything, though, so soon he gets kicked out. Then he goes to a laundromat, but the customers complain to the guy running the laundromat that the homeless man is scaring them. So, the man gets kicked out of the laundromat, too. When he walks outside, though, it has gotten even hotter. He tries to make his way through the crowds of people to get to the bus station. Once inside, he reminisces about his past and how he came to be where he is today. Then, a bishop gives him some candlesticks and he ends up becoming a mayor. The end.

  15. There once was a homeless man that lived in downtown Chicago during the hottest summer in history. It was 7 a.m. and already close to 90 degrees. The man sat on the sidewalk begging for some loose change to buy a cold beverage and be able to sit in the dinner for an hour or so to cool down. But although the streets were busy with people on their usual morning route, not one dropped even a penny for the homesless man. As the day continued, the temperature rose and the homeless man began to hallucinate. He saw a giant waterfall that flowed into a vast pool in the place of the bussling Chicago traffic. The homeless man rose off the hot asphalt and slowly walked toward what he thought would be the cool off he needed. Instead he jumped into oncoming traffic and died. The end.
